Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has sparked discussion with his belief that many pastors are, in fact, destined to be native doctors but have rejected their “divine” calling. Edochie argued that these pastors have been conditioned to view native doctors as something negative, causing them to stray from their true purpose.
The actor attributed the widespread negative perception of native doctors to Nollywood, suggesting the industry has contributed to the portrayal of native doctors as inherently evil.
Edochie emphasized that anyone meant to be a native doctor might struggle to find true fulfillment until they embrace their original calling.
“Many pastors today have the calling to be native doctors (Dibia), but they’re rejecting it because of the influence of Western culture, which tells us it’s evil,” he said.
“Nollywood has also played a role in painting native doctors in a negative light. Being a native doctor is a divine calling from God to help humanity. A true native doctor fights evil, just like a pastor can choose to do good or bad.”
Edochie urged those who feel drawn to the path of a native doctor to answer their calling, suggesting that failure to do so could lead to a lack of fulfillment in life.
“Answer your calling. You may never find true fulfillment if you ignore it,” he concluded in a post on Facebook.
