Manchester United is reportedly ramping up their pursuit of Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen, aiming to find a solution for underperforming strikers Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee. According to Naija News, the Red Devils have intensified their efforts following new manager Ruben Amorim’s decision to exclude both Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho from his squad during the recent Manchester derby.
Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has been in spectacular form in Turkey, scoring ten goals and providing five assists in 13 appearances across all competitions.
However, Juventus appears to be leading the race to secure his signature as they search for a replacement for Dusan Vlahovic. Reports suggest the Serie A club may be Osimhen’s preferred destination, considering his past success in Italy.
Manchester United faces stiff competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal, with former Gunners midfielder Emmanuel Petit urging his old club to pursue Osimhen in January. The situation is further complicated by Osimhen’s €75 million release clause, with Napoli director Giovanni Manna recently denying any discussions regarding a potential January move.
“I’ve already said many times that no one has contacted us. Victor is still under contract with Napoli and currently playing for Galatasaray. I’ve heard a lot of rumors, but nothing is happening,” Manna told DAZN in a recent interview.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is also keeping a close watch on developments and may enter the fray if Rashford, who has reportedly attracted interest from the French club, moves on from Manchester United.
Chelsea has also entered the race, with reports suggesting the London club could present a more attractive option than United due to their current progress.
Osimhen’s loan agreement with Galatasaray contains a break clause for January, which could allow for a mid-season transfer. However, his next destination remains uncertain due to interest from multiple top European clubs.
