Presidency Adviser Predicts Peter Obi’s Move to APC
Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, has stated that former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is likely to align with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
During an interview with TVC on Wednesday, Bwala claimed that the APC is gradually attracting key figures from the Labour Party without actively persuading them.
“Do you know we are emptying the Labour Party? Not because we go and ask them to come—they are coming on their own. Valentine Ozigbo has joined us, Balami has joined us, and even Peter Obi will eventually join us. He will not contest under Labour Party; they are all leaving,” Bwala asserted.
When asked how he was so certain about Obi’s potential move, he pointed to Valentine Ozigbo’s recent defection to the APC as a strong indicator. He suggested that Ozigbo plays a key role in Obi’s political decisions, making it highly probable that the former Anambra governor would follow suit.
Bwala also dismissed ongoing moves by opposition figures to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), arguing that such alliances often crumble due to leadership struggles.
“They create these weekly breaking news stories about political figures joining the SDP just to dominate media discussions. But when the excitement fades and real decisions have to be made—who gets the presidential ticket, who becomes vice president—that’s when the internal conflicts will start,” he explained.
While Peter Obi has yet to address these claims, Bwala remains confident that the political landscape will shift in favor of the APC.
