Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show is set to return to screens this Tuesday after a sudden break that stirred plenty of conversation. Disney, which owns ABC, confirmed the comeback on Monday.
The pause happened last week when ABC suspended production following backlash over comments Kimmel made after the tragic shooting of Christian activist Charlie Kirk. The network explained the move as an effort to avoid heightening tensions during a sensitive time.
In a statement, ABC said:
“Last Wednesday, we chose to temporarily halt the show to prevent escalating an already emotional moment for the country. After thoughtful discussions with Jimmy, we’ve decided the show will return on Tuesday.”
The unexpected move, which many linked to pressure from government figures, set off outrage among liberal audiences. Critics argued that Kimmel, a consistent voice against Donald Trump, had been singled out unfairly.
