Toyosi Etim-Effiong, wife of actor Daniel Etim-Effiong, has opened up about how her husband’s dream of becoming a filmmaker was clear right from the start of their relationship.
Sharing the story on Instagram, she recalled that when they first met, Daniel had no hesitation in saying exactly what he wanted out of life—he wanted to make films. At the time, he was studying for his Master’s degree in Filmmaking at the University of Johannesburg, while she was in New York pursuing a diploma in Producing at the New York Film Academy.
For Toyosi, their paths felt aligned from day one, and Daniel’s passion for storytelling and directing never wavered.
Over the years, he honed his craft by directing commercials for major brands, as well as working on documentaries and short films. His consistent effort and creativity have already earned him recognition and awards, laying a strong foundation for the filmmaker he is today.
Reflecting on his journey, Toyosi emphasized that his latest project is not a sudden breakthrough but the result of years of dedication and steady growth.
In her words:
“When I met @etimeffiong and asked what his plans in life were, he said pretty straightforwardly, ‘I want to make films.’ He was getting a Master’s in Filmmaking at the University of Johannesburg, and I was getting a one-year diploma in Producing at New York Film Academy. His dream didn’t scare me—in fact, it felt like we were aligned.”
