Tiwa Savage has opened up about feeling underappreciated for her impact on the music scene.
In a recent chat on the Offair Show with Gbemi and Toolz, the Afrobeats star—often called the Queen of Afrobeats—shared that she doesn’t believe she’s received the recognition she truly deserves.
When Toolz asked if she feels she’s gotten her flowers from the industry, Tiwa replied candidly, “No, I’m sorry, I don’t.”
The singer also spoke about her initial reaction to the hit song Dorobucci. According to her, when Don Jazzy first played the unfinished version in a hotel during her wedding trip to Dubai, she wasn’t impressed.
“Don’t know if people know this,” Tiwa revealed in an interview with NotJustOk, “but when Don Jazzy played Dorobucci, I thought it was such a crap song.”
She later admitted that her opinion completely changed after hearing the final version, saying she was blown away by how good it turned out.
Tiwa added that she had a similar moment of doubt with her own hit Eminado — a reminder that sometimes, even the biggest hits don’t sound like magic at first.
