Afrobeats icon David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has thrilled fans with news of his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
The global music star shared photos from the engagement on his official 𝕏 account on Thursday, expressing gratitude for the opportunity.
“It was an honour meeting Emmanuel Macron and sharing our visions for a better world,” he wrote.
While Davido didn’t go into details about their discussion, the meeting is being celebrated as another major moment for Nigeria’s cultural presence on the world stage.
President Macron has long shown support for Africa’s creative industries. In 2018, he made a historic visit to the legendary Afrika Shrine — the cultural home of Fela Anikulapo Kuti — which he described as “an iconic symbol of African music and strength.”
This new meeting with Davido further highlights Macron’s continued commitment to strengthening ties through art, culture, and music, especially with Afrobeats becoming a global force.
Meanwhile, Lagos recently played host to the Création Africa Forum — an event that brought together some of the continent’s brightest creative talents in fashion, gaming, animation, and digital innovation. The initiative, curated by Maison des Mondes Africains under France’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, aims to deepen collaboration and investment in Africa’s growing creative economy.
Davido’s encounter with Macron marks yet another inspiring chapter in the global rise of Afrobeats and Nigeria’s creative influence.
