Waje Opens Up About Love, Maturity, and the Kind of Man She Wants
When it comes to love, everyone has their deal breakers — and for Nigerian singer Waje, being with a man who isn’t financially stable is one of hers. The award-winning vocalist recently got candid about her relationship standards and what truly matters to her at this stage in life.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, the 45-year-old star explained that she’s no longer in the phase of life where she can “grow together” with someone who hasn’t yet found his footing. For Waje, partnership is about shared vision, stability, and emotional depth — not starting from scratch.
“I can’t marry someone who is not successful,” she said. “I’m not in my 20s anymore, so we’re not growing together. A man leads, and he leads by selling aspirations to me. I have to see him inspire growth — that’s what partnership means. So, success is part of it, along with faith and emotional intelligence.”
Waje went on to reveal that she also isn’t open to dating younger men, explaining that it would likely lead to conflict.
“We’d have issues,” she admitted. “I’m very pragmatic, and sometimes I even have to check myself with friends and family. Imagine if it were a husband? He would get tired. I’d end up treating him like a child, and he’d hate that.”
With her honesty, Waje paints a clear picture of a woman who knows what she wants — and isn’t afraid to say it. For her, love at this stage is about alignment, maturity, and a partner who brings balance, not burdens.
