Senator Ned Nwoko has insisted that his estranged wife, Regina Daniels, undergo rehabilitation, saying it is crucial for her safety and mental well-being as a mother.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, Nwoko cited a series of alarming toxicology results and sudden changes in Regina’s behavior as reasons for his concern. He claimed that the actress, once calm and composed, had recently exhibited violent and unpredictable tendencies, along with recurring health crises.
“I want her alive and healthy, not just for me, but for our children,” Nwoko said. “We have two young kids who cannot protect themselves, and I must step in to safeguard their mother.”
The senator revealed that he had taken Regina to Nizamiye Hospital on three separate occasions following alleged drug overdoses. “I have lived with this problem for eight months. On three occasions, I had to carry her to the hospital unconscious from a drug overdose,” he said, noting that records could verify his claims.
He presented toxicology results he says support concerns about substance abuse and criticized anyone discouraging her from seeking professional help as acting against the interests of both mother and children. Nwoko dismissed recent denials from Regina’s mother and siblings as distractions, urging them to allow an independent toxicologist to examine her. “If her mother and supporters really want to prove me wrong, let them arrange for her to visit any toxicologist of their choice. I will cover the cost,” he said.
Addressing the possible influences behind her alleged drug use, Nwoko accused some of Regina’s siblings and their friends of supplying substances and undermining her recovery efforts. He claimed that each time she made progress, her close circle smuggled in drugs that pulled her back into addiction.
The senator also refuted a claim by Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, suggesting one of his sons had died in the UK from a drug overdose, describing it as “an inhuman attack” with no autopsy evidence linking his son’s death to drugs.
This ongoing marital dispute came to public attention after Regina Daniels accused Nwoko of physical assault and stated she no longer wished to continue the marriage. Nwoko denies the allegations, maintaining that her recent behavior is tied to substance abuse and requires medical intervention.
