On October 11, 2025, in Lagos, Nigeria, Anita Natacha Akide—better known as Tacha—turned her love for makeup into history. Surrounded by palettes, brushes, and endless determination, she transformed 144 faces in just 24 hours, earning not one but two Guinness World Record titles.
Within the first eight hours, Tacha completed 82 makeovers, setting her first record for the most cosmetic transformations in that timeframe. But she didn’t stop there. Pushing her limits, she went on to finish 144 makeovers in 24 hours—breaking the previous record by more than 30. Each makeover included carefully applied foundation, concealer, blush, eyeshadow, mascara, lip liner, gloss, powder, and shaped brows.
When the confirmation came through, Tacha was overwhelmed with emotion. She screamed, cried, and hugged her sister and her team. “It felt like the whole of Nigeria was celebrating with me,” she said. “The love and excitement online made me feel like everyone who ever believed in me was right there.”
Makeup, for Tacha, has always been more than beauty—it’s self-expression. Growing up, she was fascinated by colours and cosmetics, even when her mother, a devoted church worker, disapproved. Despite having her makeup products thrown away, she always found a way to get more. That determination has now become the foundation of her global achievement.
“This record came from resilience and courage,” Tacha shared. “I wanted to prove that Nigerian women can achieve anything, that creativity is power, and that African women deserve global recognition.”
For her, the record is a symbol of hope. “It belongs to every girl who’s ever had to start again, every creative who’s been doubted, and every dreamer who believes that greatness can come from anywhere,” she said.
Her message is simple yet powerful: greatness has no boundaries—and Africa’s creativity deserves the world’s spotlight.
Congratulations, Tacha!
