FC Barcelona to Return to Camp Nou as Stadium Renovations Near Completion
FC Barcelona have announced that the team will finally return to Camp Nou on 22 November, taking on Athletic Bilbao in La Liga. This match will mark the club’s first competitive game at their legendary home in over two and a half years, following an extensive renovation project.
The stadium makeover, which began in 2022, has transformed Camp Nou into a modern football arena. Upgrades include a new playing surface, expanded seating capacity, reinforced structures, and a host of improvements aimed at enhancing the matchday experience for fans.
Barcelona’s last game at the iconic ground was on 29 May 2023, a 3-0 victory over Mallorca—a symbolic farewell before the renovations began and the team temporarily moved to other venues.
As attention returns to Camp Nou, transfer news is stirring in France. PSG manager Luis Enrique has reportedly expressed strong interest in Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez. Swiss Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Enrique “holds Álvarez in high regard,” with a potential transfer under consideration. Atlético Madrid, however, have set a firm asking price of €120 million.
Sources suggest Álvarez fits perfectly into Enrique’s tactical plans and could top PSG’s winter wishlist. The forward is reportedly excited by the prospect of playing under Enrique, though the transfer fee remains the main hurdle. While English Premier League clubs and Barcelona have shown interest in Álvarez, he is said to prefer a move to Paris rather than a return to England, feeling he has already reached his peak there.
Barcelona’s return to Camp Nou and the transfer speculation around Álvarez are shaping up to be two of the most exciting storylines in European football this month.
