The military and rebels from the M23 group have been fighting increasingly in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The conflict occurred on a road that connects Goma, the regional seat of North Kivu, with eastern settlements.
The US urged the Rwandan army to stop aiding the rebels at a UN Security Council briefing on Wednesday.
In the past, the Kigali government has denied any connection. The M23 fighters were driven out of DR Congo almost ten years ago, but late last year they started fighting again, forcing tens of thousands of civilians to flee.
