The suspected killer of Takeoff is putting together his defense.
In connection with the fatal shooting of the Migos artist outside a Houston bowling alley, authorities detained Patrick Xavier Clark last week.
According to TMZ, the 33-year-old is now requesting funding from the judge to employ a private investigator to assist in his defense.
Clark is requesting an initial payment of $5,000 since he is unable to afford the bills on his own, per legal records. He’s already found a private eye who will take the job for a discounted rate of $85 per hour.

According to Clark’s family, all of their resources were used to hire a lawyer. But according to Clark, a private detective is required to “fully examine [Clark’s] case and to adequately prepare for trial.”
Clark is being detained in custody on a $2 million bond after being accused of murder. If freed, he will be placed under house arrest and forbidden from owning any weapons. Additionally, he won’t be allowed to communicate with the relatives of Takeoff, J. Prince Jr., or boxer Shakur Stevenson, who was nearby when the fatal shot occurred.
Takeoff, real name Kirsnick Khari Ball, was shot and died on November 1 at 810 Billiards & Bowling following a private party. Police Sgt. Michael Burrow stated at a news conference on Friday that Takeoff was “an innocent bystander” and that he was not involved in the argument that led to the shooting, which involved a dice game.
A second man, Cameron Joshua, 22, was detained on November 22 on suspicion of felony firearm possession. In the shooting, two other people were hurt, including Quavo’s aide.
