According to his publicist, Jeremy Renner underwent surgery after suffering “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” in a snowplow accident.
Renner, a two-time Oscar nominee best known for his role as the Marvel superhero Hawkeye, was hospitalized in “critical but stable condition” on Sunday. Representative Sam Mast stated on Monday morning that Renner was involved in a “weather-related accident” while plowing snow in the Reno, Nevada, area.
Renner was airlifted to a local hospital, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, which responded to the scene.
“He has returned from surgery and is still in critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit,” Mast said Monday night. “Jeremy’s family would like to thank the incredible doctors and nurses who are caring for him, as well as Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve, and the Carano and Murdock families. They are also overwhelmed and grateful for the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”
Renner was the only person involved in the accident, which occurred near a highway, according to the sheriff’s office. The office stated in a press release that it is still investigating the circumstances of the accident.
