After years of anticipation, Netflix will release “That ’90s Show,” the sequel to the sitcom hit “That ’70s Show,” in January.
Debra Jo Rupp returns as Kitty and Kurtwood Smith as Red, who host their grandchildren in their Point Place, Wis., home for a summer of teen antics. Callie Haverda, Ashley Aufderheide, Mace Coronol, Maxwell Acee Donovan, Reyn Doi, and Sam Morelos are among the newcomers to the franchise.
Topher Grace and Laura Prepon reprise their roles as Eric and Donna, respectively, and other “That ’70s Show” regulars such as Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, and Wilmer Vaderrama make appearances. Returning actors include original series creators Bonnie and Terry Turner, who have signed on as writers and producers for the spinoff. Gregg Mettler, a former “That ’70s Show” producer, is in charge of the new series.
New films will also be added to Netflix, including “The Pale Blue Eye.” After a brief theatrical run in late December, the film will be available for streaming on Netflix on January 6.
“The Pale Blue Eye,” adapted from author Louis Bayard’s novel of the same name, was written for the screen and directed by Scott Cooper. The film follows a serial murder investigation led by detective Augustus Landor (Christian Bale), who is assisted in his investigation by Harry Melling, who plays a young Edgar Allan Poe.
