All of Ivory Coast’s land borders are now open for the first time in three years. According to the country’s ministerial council, “favorable health and economic developments” since the Covid-19 pandemic’s outbreak mean it is now safe to lift this restriction.

Another reason for the reopening of land borders on Thursday is to crack down on illegal crossings and redirect travelers to official border posts.
According to RFI, there was a “recent influx” of 8,700 refugees fleeing violence in Burkina Faso, who should be identified and processed through reception centers.
