Karim-David Adeyemi, a Nigerian-born Borussia Dortmund footballer, made a remark about Fufu, a Nigerian staple, that has continued to make headlines.
It was refueled by his club’s tweet about the Fufu and Egusi soup combination.
Remember that a video of the 21-year-old in an interview resurfaced after Dortmund’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 matches on Wednesday night.
Adeyemi revealed that his athletic abilities were a combination of genetic traits he inherited from his father and the strength he gained from consuming Fufu, a traditional Nigerian dish made from cassava.
Still celebrating their victory, Borussia Dortmund’s official Twitter page posted a dish of Fufu and Egusi soup.
It received millions of views, as well as thousands of likes and comments.
Today, Thursday, the club responded with a video of an Instagram influencer and a Nigerian preparing Fufu.
The video was combined with the moment Karim’s team launched a counter-attack, which resulted in him flicking the ball into the net while making a full 360-degree turn.
