Freddy, a tropical cyclone, has made landfall in Mozambique.
It has been strengthened in the Mozambique Channel by winds of up to 128 kilometers per hour (80mph).
Following landfall, the storm system will move slowly through southern Mozambique, dumping up to 400mm of rain over the next few days.
This is likely to cause widespread flooding across the region, which could spread into Zimbabwe and north-east South Africa as early as next week.
