In response to a defamation and cyberstalking complaint filed by gospel artist Nathaniel Bassey, one of the accused Facebook users, Kingsley Ibe, has issued an apology to Bassey and his fellow artist Mercy Chinwo. Ibe has also voluntarily surrendered himself to police custody.
The allegations stemmed from claims made by Ibe and three others, including Okoronkwo Ejike, Terrence Ekot, and Dj Spoiltkid, suggesting that Bassey was the father of a child belonging to another well-known gospel singer, which quickly spread across social media platforms.

According to a press statement released by Bassey’s legal team on Monday, the police have obtained Ibe’s statement and substantial evidence for potential prosecution on charges of criminal defamation and cyber-related offenses.
The statement also indicated that Ibe has expressed regret for his actions and is determined to make amends. It further mentioned that Ibe’s family, including his elderly mother, has offered apologies on his behalf. Bassey, in a gesture of goodwill, has chosen to extend forgiveness and support to Ibe as he strives to turn over a new leaf and embrace greater responsibility within society.
