Ghanaian Art Management Company and Black Sherif’s Court Hearing Adjourned.
Cruise People Limited, a renowned Ghanaian art management company, was set to face off in court against Ghanaian artist Black Sherif. The court hearing has been rescheduled to November 16, 2023, and both parties were in attendance at the Adenta court. Present were Black Sherif’s road manager, Frederick Osei, also known as Aubrey, who is the plaintiff, and Daniel Vanderpuye, the Chief Executive Officer of Cruise People Limited, along with their respective legal representatives.
Her Ladyship Mariama Sammo, presiding over the case, has directed that both the Plaintiff and Defendant, in the company of their legal counsels, prepare their legal arguments and submit them by November 2, 2023.

Black Sherif, the defendant in this case, had previously filed a motion, asserting that the Adenta court lacked jurisdiction to handle the case. He contended that the contract governing his performance stipulated that any legal proceedings should occur in the United Kingdom.
In response, Cruise People Limited, represented by their legal team, has filed an affidavit opposing this motion. They argue that the Adenta High Court does indeed possess the jurisdiction required to hear and resolve the case, as both parties involved are Ghanaian and conduct their professional activities within the boundaries of Ghana.
The lawsuit against Black Sherif revolves around allegations of his failure to fulfill a contractual agreement, which led to the cancellation of the Afro Cruise Jam concert that was originally scheduled for August 2023. Cruise People Limited is seeking compensation in the amount of 100,000 to cover the losses incurred as a result of the cancellation. The case will continue to unfold in the coming weeks, shedding light on the intricacies of the legal dispute.
