Notore Chemical Industries Plc, a prominent Nigerian company specializing in petrochemicals and agro-allied products, has recently announced a significant change within its board of directors. Mr. Femi Agbaje has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors, a position he will hold until the completion of the ongoing private placement transaction for the company.
The official announcement was made through a notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the investing public, signed by Mrs. Otivbo Saleh, Group Chief Legal Officer, and Company Secretary of Notore Chemical Industries Plc.
Mr. Agbaje’s appointment marks a notable transition for the company, succeeding General Dr. Yakubu Gowon, who retired from the board effective January 28, 2021. With Mr. Agbaje’s wealth of experience and expertise in the field, his appointment is expected to bring fresh perspectives and insights to Notore Chemical Industries Plc.
According to the statement released by the company,
“Notore Chemical Industries Plc hereby notifies the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the investing public of the appointment of Mr. Femi Agbaje as the Chairman of the Board of Directors until the completion of the company’s ongoing private placement Transaction. Mr. Agbaje replaced General Dr. Yakubu Gowon, GCFR, who retired from the Board of the Company effective from 28th January 2021. The appointment takes effect immediately.”

Mr. Femi Agbaje boasts a distinguished career in finance, beginning with his early days in accounting at esteemed firms such as Peat, Marwick, and Deloitte. His qualifications as a chartered accountant, earned in both the UK and Nigeria by 1984, laid a solid foundation for his career trajectory.
Transitioning to the banking sector, Mr. Agbaje held various leadership positions at several banks, culminating in his role as the Managing Director of Midas Bank before his departure from the industry in 2006.
Beyond finance, Mr. Agbaje’s diverse interests are evident in his academic background, holding a degree in history and political science.
Currently serving as a non-executive director for Notore, Mr. Agbaje previously held the position of Chief Financial Officer until 2018. Additionally, he sits on the board of another financial institution, FSDH Merchant Bank Limited, further underscoring his continued involvement in the sector.
