High Court Orders Compensation in Asamoah Gyan’s Divorce Case.
A High Court in Ghana has issued a verdict in the divorce case involving former Ghanaian football icon Asamoah Gyan and his ex-wife, Gifty Gyan. The court has ruled that Asamoah Gyan must provide his ex-wife with various forms of compensation, including a house in the UK, a four-bedroom house in Accra, a petrol station, and two cars.
Furthermore, the court has affirmed Asamoah Gyan as the biological father of their three children and has mandated him to pay 25,000 Ghanaian cedis ($2,100; £1,730) per month for their financial support.
This legal battle has endured for approximately three years, originating from Asamoah Gyan’s allegations of infidelity and doubts about his paternity of their three children. A DNA test has conclusively refuted these claims.

Even though the couple had already separated, the court formally dissolved their marriage following a petition filed by Asamoah Gyan. The court’s decision took into account Ms. Gyan’s non-cash contribution to property acquisitions, considering her role as the primary caregiver to their children while her partner was focused on his football career.
Asamoah Gyan remains Ghana’s all-time leading goalscorer and the highest-scoring African player in World Cup history. Throughout his career, the 37-year-old netted 51 goals for Ghana, including six at various World Cup tournaments.
