Nigerian music sensation Wizkid’s eldest son, Boluwatife Balogun, popularly known as Champz, has officially stepped into the music scene.
At just 14, Champz released his debut five-track EP, Champion’s Arrival, marking an impressive start to his career. The project quickly shot to the top of Apple Music Nigeria within five hours of release, making him the youngest African artist to reach that milestone. It also charted in 16 countries worldwide and climbed to number 71 on the UK Apple Music Top Albums chart.
Unlike many debut projects, Champion’s Arrival features no guest appearances, allowing Champz’s own voice and creative vision to take center stage. In the track Superstar, he reflects on early heartbreaks and shares dreams for the future, including hopes of showing love to his children one day.
Despite critics pointing to his famous father, Champz emphasized that all the lyrics and melodies are his own. He announced the EP’s release on social media, noting that it’s available on all streaming platforms.
Wizkid expressed his pride and excitement over his son’s achievement, saying, “We love it man, he’s my kid you know!”
Boluwatife, the first child of Wizkid and Shola Ogudu, has already shown entrepreneurial flair, launching a children’s fashion line, Czar & Czarina, at the age of seven, before channeling his creativity into music.
