Davido Reflects on Faith and Resilience Inspired by His Father
Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared how his father, Adedeji Adeleke, instilled in him a deep faith in God that continues to guide him through life’s toughest challenges.
In a heartfelt interview on Rollingout’s podcast, Davido reflected on his upbringing in a religious household and the enduring lessons his father taught him about unwavering faith, especially in times of hardship.
“My dad is very successful, but he’s also an elder in the church,” Davido shared. “Growing up in the Seventh-day Adventist Church and attending a Christian college shaped a lot of who I am.”
Lessons in Faith
Davido spoke candidly about how his father’s advice became a beacon during difficult times. He recalled moments when he felt angry or questioned life’s fairness.
“There were times I couldn’t understand why bad things happened to good people,” he said. “But my dad always reminded me, ‘You can’t question God.’ At first, I struggled with that idea, but over time, it started to make sense.”
Turning Pain into Purpose
The singer also reflected on how, after experiencing profound loss with the passing of his son, Ifeanyi, he began to see life’s blessings in unexpected ways.
“A year later, we welcomed twins, my biggest album dropped, and I received my first Grammy nominations. It was like God saying, ‘I’ve got your back,’” he explained.
A Testament to Resilience
Davido’s story is a powerful reminder that faith and perseverance can turn even the darkest moments into opportunities for growth and triumph. As he continues to navigate his journey, he credits his father’s teachings and his belief in God for giving him strength and hope.
“Everyone faces challenges, but knowing that God is with you makes all the difference,” he said.
