Reality TV star Uriel Oputa is opening up about one of the most difficult seasons of her life—one that tested her faith, stretched her limits, and ultimately reminded her of the power of divine timing.
In a candid Instagram post, the former Big Brother Naija housemate shared how she found herself essentially homeless in Lagos late last year. It all started in November, when she sold her car, gave up her apartment, and mentally prepared to relocate to London to care for her mother, who had just received a serious medical diagnosis.
“I thought I was gone for good,” Uriel wrote. “I let go of everything—my car, my home, my entire routine in Lagos.”
But then came an unexpected twist. Her brother urged her to return to Nigeria just weeks later in December. Confused and emotionally drained, she landed in Lagos with no plan, no home, and nowhere to stay. That’s when she checked into a shortlet apartment that cost ₦150,000 per night.
“I didn’t know how I was going to manage, but somehow, I did,” she said.
For two months, she paid the full price. Then came a bit of relief—₦100,000 per night. Eventually, the apartment owners even gave her an entire month free in May, simply out of kindness and recognition of her long stay.
“It was nothing but God. Only Jesus,” she wrote. “That grace gave me space to breathe, to regroup, and to rebuild.”
In the middle of her uncertainty, Uriel turned to prayer. She leaned into her faith—and her hustle. Her meal and juice business began gaining traction again. Orders started rolling in. Slowly, she started paying for her accommodation weekly, then every 10 days.
After six months of holding on and pushing through, Uriel finally moved into her own place again.
“If you’re in a place where you’ve let go of everything and can’t see the landing, this is your reminder: God shows up. Even when there’s no plan,” she added.
Her story is a powerful testimony of resilience, grace, and the quiet strength that grows in seasons of uncertainty.
