Today at the National Stadium in Lagos, the first jump ball of the Nigeria Basketball Federation’s (NBBF) Premier League Final Eight will be played. On November 12, the competition will come to a close.
The Final Eight games will be difficult because the teams are vying not only for the championship but also for a spot on the continental stage, according to NBBF President Musa Kida.
He said that the Final Eight would assist fans of basketball to rediscover the thrill of the game.
“Our basketball players get another chance to play what they love doing during the Final Eight games. The games will undoubtedly be thrilling and fiercely competitive in a sportsmanlike manner.
“We are still dedicated to the expansion and improvement of basketball in this nation. The Final Eight is just one of the events and initiatives the board has planned to revive basketball in Nigeria, he said.
The Gombe Bulls, Kano Pillars, Benue Braves, Kwara Falcons, Lagos Islanders, Nigeria Customs, and Rivers Hoopers will compete in the Final Eight.
The competition’s champion will be eligible to represent Nigeria at the Basketball Africa League (BAL), which will take place in Kigali, Rwanda, in 2023.
