The Lagos State Police Command has assured the public that TikTok sensation Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, is safe following reports of his alleged abduction during a livestream on Wednesday night.
In a chat with Channels Television on Thursday, the Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that Peller is at home and unharmed, adding that his vehicle, phones, and other belongings were also untouched.
“We are investigating the allegation, but we can confirm that Habeeb, known as Peller, is safe and sound. Nothing was taken from him, and there was no sign of violence. Our investigation will determine the authenticity of the claim and the next steps,” Hundeyin said.
When asked if the incident could be considered a kidnap, self-staged abduction, or if no abduction took place at all, he explained that the police were keeping every possibility open until the investigation is concluded.
Videos circulating online had shown the 20-year-old content creator being approached by men he initially seemed to mistake for security personnel before being taken away.
Peller, who rose to fame in 2021 with his skits and livestreams, has since built a large following online. The police say findings from the ongoing probe will provide clarity on what truly happened.
