Former Big Brother Naija star Roseline Omokhoa Afije, better known as Liquorose, has shared that her first love wasn’t dancing or acting — it was music.
Speaking with VJ Adams, she revealed that long before fame from the reality show, she was deeply invested in pursuing a music career. According to her, she spent a lot of time in the studio, recording and shaping her sound.
“I won’t lie, music has always had my heart,” she said. “I used to record all the time. Before BBNaija, I was literally living in the studio. I was hungry for it.”
Although acting has become a comfortable place for her, the pull toward music hasn’t faded. Liquorose explained that as a poet and writer, she has a strong creative connection to sound and storytelling.
She said, “I write poems, so I know when something isn’t hitting the way it should. I work with writers now too, but that desire to create music never left. Acting feels safe — I can stay in that space even until I’m 70 or 80 — but music is a side of me people haven’t really seen.”
According to her, when she eventually releases music, it won’t just be for dancing or vibes; it will carry emotion and depth.
“I can do dancehall, I can rap if I want to. I may not sing like Beyoncé,” she added with a laugh, “but I can definitely hold my own.”
