Manchester United, one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, has reportedly decided to retain Erik Ten Hag as their manager for the upcoming 2024-2025 season.
Ten Hag, who joined Manchester United ahead of the 2022-2023 season, faced challenges during the 2023-2024 campaign, resulting in the team finishing 8th in the Premier League standings. Despite this setback, they secured a spot in the Europa League after winning the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Initially, there were reports that the club’s leadership had prepared a termination letter for the Dutch manager before the FA Cup final. However, they postponed their decision after Ten Hag led the team to victory in the FA Cup.
Following the conclusion of the season, the club’s hierarchy, led by new part owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, initiated a review of Ten Hag’s performance. Meanwhile, the 54-year-old coach took time off to vacation with his family in Ibiza.
Amidst speculation about his future at Old Trafford, reports surfaced suggesting that Ten Hag was becoming frustrated with the uncertainty surrounding his position.
Ultimately, after thorough discussions, Manchester United’s board members decided to retain Ten Hag for the next season. According to a report by the BBC, this decision was influenced by Sir Ratcliffe’s recent involvement in the club’s football operations, as he had not yet had sufficient time to assess Ten Hag’s performance thoroughly.
