Liverpool is making bold moves this summer, with a £40 million deal in place for Bournemouth’s standout left-back, Milos Kerkez. The 21-year-old Hungarian international is expected to link up with new head coach Arne Slot as part of the Reds’ major squad shake-up.
Kerkez, who played every Premier League match for Bournemouth last season, was instrumental in helping the Cherries to a record ninth-place finish. His arrival raises questions about the future of Liverpool’s current left-backs, Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas. While the club wants to keep Robertson, the Scottish defender is reportedly being eyed by Atletico Madrid.
Kerkez’s signing adds to Liverpool’s ongoing transfer spree. The club is also closing in on a record-breaking £116 million deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz and recently snapped up Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong for £29.5 million.
Born in Serbia, Kerkez began his professional career at Hungarian club Győr before a move to AC Milan. Though he didn’t feature for the Italian giants, he found his stride at AZ Alkmaar, playing a key role in their top-four Eredivisie finish and Conference League semi-final run in 2023.
He has earned 23 caps for Hungary and will now reunite with national teammate Dominik Szoboszlai at Anfield.
Meanwhile, over at Molineux, Wolves have confirmed their first summer signing: Spanish striker Fer Lopez. The 21-year-old arrives from Celta Vigo in a £19 million move after scoring four goals in 20 La Liga appearances last season.
Lopez, who once trained with Norwich City’s youth academy and briefly studied in Suffolk, is eager for his Premier League debut. “This is a huge step for me, and I’m ready to give everything for the team,” he said.
Wolves are reshaping their squad following the departures of Matheus Cunha to Manchester United for £62.5 million and Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester City for £31 million.
