Renowned American comedian, James Gregory, affectionately known as ‘The Funniest Man in America,’ has passed away at the age of 78, according to reports.
Gregory’s family announced his demise on Thursday, May 9, citing cardiac complications as the cause of death. He is survived by his three nieces and other relatives.
James embarked on his comedy journey in the early ’80s at the age of 36, transitioning from a career in sales. He made his debut at the renowned Punchline Club in Atlanta, becoming the first comedian to grace its stage.
Although recognized as a Southern comedian, Gregory entertained audiences nationwide for over four decades, solidifying his reputation as ‘The Funniest Man in America’ during the 1980s. He even secured the URL domain “funniestman.com,” further cementing his status in the hearts of fans.
