The Senate is set to make a final call on October 7, 2025, regarding whether Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan will return fully to her duties after her suspension.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, had been suspended on March 6, 2025, for six months following allegations of misconduct tied to a fallout with Senate President Godswill Akpabio. She had accused Akpabio of sexual harassment, an allegation he firmly rejected.
Although her office was reopened on Tuesday by the Sergeant-at-Arms, questions remain about her full reinstatement.
In an interview with Channels TV, Kenny Okolugbo, Communications and Strategy Consultant to the Office of the Senate President, explained that the final decision would be made by lawmakers once they reconvene.
“Every other decision will be taken by the senators when they resume on the 7th of October,” he said.
Okolugbo also commended the Senate leadership for granting Akpoti-Uduaghan access to her office, calling it a fair move.
“She has every right to return to her office since her six-month suspension has ended. Even though the matter is still before the Court of Appeal, the Senate leadership acted wisely,” he added.
