The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to kick off their preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on December 10.
Head coach Eric Chelle and his squad will regroup ahead of Africa’s most anticipated football tournament, scheduled to begin on December 21 in Morocco, according to reports from SCORENigeria.
Nigeria will compete in Group D alongside Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is expected to confirm the venue for their training camp soon.
The Super Eagles’ AFCON journey begins on December 23 in Fez, where they will face Tanzania in their opening match as they aim for their fourth continental title.
Meanwhile, Sevilla forward Jerome Akor Adams has shared his excitement after receiving his first call-up to the Super Eagles. The 24-year-old striker is the only new addition to Nigeria’s 23-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic.
Akor, who has been in top form for his Spanish club this season, said his main goal is to contribute to the team’s success.
“I’m focused on giving my best for the team. Whoever’s playing, we all support each other. When you’re called upon, you just have to deliver,” he said in an interview with the Super Eagles media team.
The former U-20 forward could make his senior debut for Nigeria when they face Lesotho at 5 p.m. on Friday, as Chelle’s men continue their push for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
