In a devastating incident, a helicopter carrying Tunisian soldiers on military duty crashed into the sea in the northwestern region of the country. Regrettably, all four soldiers on board lost their lives. Tunisian President Kais Saied expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, acknowledging that this tragic accident had claimed the lives of four brave servicemen.
Following the incident, President Saied emphasized the importance of renewing military equipment and held a meeting with the country’s defense minister to address this urgent matter. He also acknowledged that such accidents could happen in any country while acknowledging that the deterioration of certain equipment in Tunisia had contributed to and continues to pose risks that lead to these kinds of tragedies.
It is worth noting that a similar incident occurred in 2021, where three soldiers lost their lives in a helicopter crash in the southern province of Gabes. However, the findings of the investigations into that particular incident have not yet been made public.
The loss of these soldiers serves as a somber reminder of the risks faced by military personnel in the line of duty. Efforts to enhance military equipment and ensure the safety of those serving the nation are paramount in order to prevent such tragedies in the future.
