Former French striker Wissam Ben Yedder has been found guilty of psychological abuse against his estranged wife and ordered to pay a €90,000 fine.
The ruling was delivered in France on Wednesday, though the 35-year-old, who made his name at Monaco and Sevilla, was not in court. His lawyer, Marie Roumiantseva, confirmed he plans to appeal.
According to the judgment, €60,000 of the fine will cover damages and legal fees for his wife. The pair are currently going through a difficult divorce, marked by bitter disputes.
This marks yet another chapter in Ben Yedder’s mounting legal troubles. In late 2024, he received a suspended two-year prison term after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman. A year earlier, a Spanish court handed him a suspended six-month sentence for tax fraud tied to his Sevilla years between 2016 and 2019.
He and his brother Sabri also remain under investigation over accusations of rape involving two women in 2023—allegations both men deny.
In this latest trial, prosecutors had pushed for an eight-month suspended sentence and a €10,000 fine, but the court imposed a far heavier financial penalty instead.
Once celebrated as one of Ligue 1’s most reliable goal scorers, Ben Yedder parted ways with Monaco earlier this year before a short stint at Iranian side Sepahan. He is currently without a club, with his career overshadowed by ongoing legal battles.
