Ghanaian Gospel sensation Empress Gifty Adorye, renowned as Empress Gifty, has offered advice to young single women involved with married men, urging them to avoid pregnancy.
The ‘Aseda’ singer, addressing ‘side chicks,’ acknowledged the practice without condemnation, citing its presence in biblical narratives. However, she cautioned against pregnancy in such situations.
In her words, “If you are a side chick, don’t get pregnant for somebody’s husband.”
Responding to inquiries about the morality of pursuing married men, she referenced biblical examples like Abraham, suggesting it’s not a recent phenomenon.
“But I am saying do not go for somebody’s husband and get pregnant for them,” she reiterated during an appearance on TV3’s New Day on March 18, 2024.
She emphasized that her stance aligns with biblical teachings, warning that if a ‘side chick’ conceives with a married man, she risks being abandoned.
“…if you get pregnant or give birth for him [the married man], he will discard you,” she emphasized.
Empress Gifty proposed that some married men might serve as financial aids to struggling ‘side chicks’ as part of divine intervention. However, she urged ‘side chicks’ not to disrupt marriages but to proceed cautiously.
