Liverpool Stars Dominate Player of the Season Shortlist
Three standout names from Liverpool—Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Ryan Gravenberch—have been shortlisted for this season’s Premier League player of the year honors. Their efforts have played a key part in helping the club lift its 20th top-flight title.
Gravenberch has been a reliable force in the midfield, missing only one match all season. Salah, ever the game-changer, leads the league with a combined 46 goals and assists—28 of those goals coming from his own boots.
Outside of Anfield, Nottingham Forest also sees two of its players in the spotlight. Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood have both made the cut, with Wood enjoying his most prolific campaign yet, netting 20 times in 34 games.
Newcastle’s Alexander Isak joins the mix, having put away 23 goals this season. Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo isn’t far behind, delivering 18 goals and seven assists—a total that puts him third for overall contributions.
Declan Rice from Arsenal rounds out the list, recognized for his commanding presence and consistency throughout the season.
In the race for top manager, five names are in contention. Wolves’ Vitor Pereira has made a huge impression since stepping in with the team near the bottom of the table. Under his leadership, the side climbed to safety with ten wins and two draws in just 18 matches—now sitting 14th with confidence.
Over at Liverpool, Arne Slot’s first season in charge couldn’t have gone better. He’s guided the Reds to the title and is firmly in the running for the managerial honor.
Also nominated are Eddie Howe, who’s kept Newcastle in the chase for a Champions League spot, and Nuno Espirito Santo of Nottingham Forest, who’s done the same for his side. Brentford’s Thomas Frank completes the shortlist, having steered his squad toward what could be their best finish yet—eighth place.
Winners for both categories will be decided through a combination of fan votes and the input of a panel of football experts.
