A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communications team in Asante Mampong, Ashanti Region, reportedly met a tragic end, allegedly stabbed to death by his wife.
The deceased, Osei Yaw Akoto, known as ‘Borga’, was allegedly stabbed in the chest during a confrontation with his wife on Thursday night.
A close friend of Akoto, named George, confirmed the heartbreaking incident to Adom FM, a radio station based in Accra, on Friday, April 5, 2024.
George recounted that Akoto’s eldest son sought his assistance upon discovering his father’s injuries. Rushing to the scene, George found his friend lying in a pool of blood with severe chest wounds.
Describing the scene, George stated, “So I rushed to his house because we are neighbors; I call him Borga, and so when I got there he was lying in a pool of blood but still breathing. He was stabbed in his chest and so it was deep. I don’t have a car, so I rushed to get a car, and we sent him to the hospital.”
Despite immediate efforts to transport him to the hospital, Akoto succumbed to his injuries within 15 minutes of arriving at the Asante Mampong Government Hospital.
George mentioned that both Akoto and his wife, who were educators, frequently engaged in quarrels, but the tragic turn of events leading to his death was unforeseen.
The incident has been reported to the police, and Akoto’s wife has been detained to assist in the ongoing investigation.
