Bobrisky Calls Out Lawmakers Over Silence on Benue Tragedy
Nigerian internet personality and crossdresser, Idris Okunneye — widely known as Bobrisky — has taken a bold swipe at Nigerian senators and lawmakers, criticizing their silence over the recent brutal attacks in Benue State.
In a strongly worded Instagram post on Monday, June 16, 2025, Bobrisky didn’t hold back. He expressed disappointment that the same lawmakers who once scrambled to hold emergency meetings over his legal troubles seemed unmoved by the horrific killings that occurred in the Yelewata community.
“Senators and House reps were quick to gather when it came to my prison issue last year,” he wrote. “But now that people are being slaughtered in Benue, they’re all quiet. Shame on all of you. This country is truly something else.”
Bobrisky’s statement refers to the intense media and political attention surrounding his arrest in 2024 for spraying naira notes, during which rumors swirled about preferential treatment in prison.
Meanwhile, on the government’s end, action is reportedly underway. Security agencies have moved into Benue State following fresh directives from President Bola Tinubu. According to a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President has ordered security chiefs to urgently address the crisis and restore peace to the region.
The renewed call for action follows the recent wave of violence that claimed nearly 200 lives in what has been described as one of the most devastating attacks in the region this year.
While federal authorities step in, voices like Bobrisky’s continue to echo public frustration, demanding accountability, not just headlines.
