Patrick Doyle Speaks Out: “I Made a Name Before Ireti Ever Stepped Into the Spotlight”
Veteran actor Patrick Doyle isn’t here for the chatter about who’s more famous — himself or his ex-wife, actress Ireti Doyle. In a recent interview, the seasoned broadcaster and actor addressed claims that Ireti is the bigger star, and he did not mince words.
When asked directly how he feels about the perception that his ex-wife is more well-known, Doyle responded with quiet confidence:
“I’ve been in the spotlight since I was 16. I was a superstar before many even knew what the entertainment industry was. I debated Yemi Osinbajo in my teens. That’s not a small feat. I’ve been here for 45 years — and I’m still here.”
He went on to say that his legacy isn’t something that can be defined by any one person, not even a former partner. “My body of work speaks for itself. It’s far too solid for anyone — living or dead — to overshadow or define me.”
Then came the mic-drop moment: “If my name wasn’t significant, why didn’t she drop it after the divorce?”
Patrick and Ireti tied the knot in 1999 following the tragic passing of his first wife. Their separation was confirmed in 2023, bringing an end to a marriage that once stood as one of Nollywood’s most admired unions.
While the former couple may have gone their separate ways, Patrick Doyle clearly wants it known: his name, his legacy, and his career stand firmly on their own.
