Renowned Nigerian preacher Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai has passed away at the age of 80.
The sad news was shared online by Prophet Joel Ogebe, leader of the House of Salem Global, who wrote on đ, âA giant has gone to be with the Lord. My father, my father, the chariot of Israel. Heaven rejoices. Uyo.â Though he didnât mention a name, many quickly connected the message to the revered evangelist.
Shortly after, Church Gist, a popular Christian media platform, confirmed the passing, writing:
âA GENERAL TAKES A BOW! EVANGELIST UMA UKPAI HAS GONE TO BE WITH THE LORD. REST IN POWER, SIR.â
His family later released an official statement titled âGlorious Transition,â confirming that Rev. Ukpai peacefully went to be with the Lord on October 6, 2025.
The statement read in part:
âWith hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the triumphant homegoing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, who passed on to glory at the age of 80. A faithful soldier of the cross has been called to rest.
For more than six decades, he dedicated his life to passionate evangelism, teaching, and demonstrating the power of God. His ministry touched countless lives, transforming souls across Nigeria and beyond.
He was a spiritual general, a father of faith, a loving husband, and a mentor to many. While we deeply miss his presence, we rejoice that he has finished his race and now rests in eternal glory.
Details of his funeral will be shared by the family in due time.

Rev. Uma Ukpai, founder and president of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, was known for his fiery crusades, deep faith, and unwavering commitment to spreading the gospel. His life and ministry remain a lasting legacy in the body of Christ.
