After two decades of dominating the airwaves, Do2dtun, the “Energy Gad,” has decided to close an unforgettable chapter in his life. In an emotional Instagram post, accompanied by a montage of cherished moments from his time at Cool FM, he reflected on his career and the legacy he’s leaving behind. “This is one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made,” he admitted. “But my heart is full knowing I’ve built something timeless.”
Do2dtun’s radio journey began on November 1, 2004, when he stepped into Cool FM as an eager yet inexperienced intern. With the late Dan Foster and other mentors guiding him, he slowly carved out his space in the industry. Despite radio not being the most lucrative path at the time, it gave him the platform to impact lives and champion others.
From creating groundbreaking shows like Cool Nigerian Vibes, Superstar Wednesday, and Office Concert, Do2dtun played a pivotal role in promoting Nigerian music. His bold move to dedicate 70% of airtime to local tunes helped push the industry into a new era. From long, lonely nights as a studio intern to becoming a household name, he remained committed to elevating others—be it emerging artists, underdogs, or superstars.
“Radio has been one of the greatest gifts of my life,” he shared. “I’ve spoken with dreamers, believers, and legends, always making sure the platform was for everyone.” He didn’t shy away from acknowledging the challenges, but his pride in the legacy he’s built was evident. He also expressed gratitude to his co-anchors and Cool FM’s leadership for their unwavering support throughout his journey.
As Do2dtun steps away from the mic, he hinted at an exciting new chapter: his upcoming book, Do Not Believe the Hype. Wrapping up his announcement, he left fans with a parting message: “My name in GOLD.”
A legacy indeed, etched in gold.
