The ‘galemsey queen,’ Aisha Huang, a prominent figure in Chinese illegal mining, has been officially convicted of mining offenses.
Aisha has been sentenced to 4 and a half years in prison, coupled with a fine of GHs48,000. This decision was reached by Justice Lydia Osei-Marfo of the Criminal Division of the Accra High Court, who found her guilty on multiple charges. These include undertaking a mining operation without a license, facilitating the participation of individuals in mining operations, illegal employment of foreigners, and entering Ghana against the prohibition of re-entry.
