Nuhu, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), advocates for the enhancement of conducive and secure working environments.
In the aftermath of recent losses in the movie industry, Nuhu expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Saratu Gidado, known as Daso, and John Odonwodo, famously called Junior Pope. These deaths have plunged Nigeria’s film sector into mourning, leaving a profound impact on colleagues and industry stakeholders.
Nuhu highlighted the significant contributions of the late Gidado, particularly her captivating performances in various Kannywood films like “Linzami Da Wuta” and “Gidauniya.” Similarly, he praised Odonwodo’s remarkable portrayals in movies such as “Honey Money,” “Blood Affair,” and “Wrong Initiation,” where his talent and professionalism shone through.
The NFC boss emphasized the void left by these iconic figures, particularly in the realm of entertainment and comedy, as exemplified by Mr. Ibu’s comedic genius. Their legacies within the Nigerian film landscape will be cherished and remembered.
Nuhu reaffirmed NFC’s commitment to supporting industry policies that prioritize safe and conducive working conditions, including provisions for medical, health, and life insurance schemes for stakeholders. He extended heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and associates of the deceased, as well as to the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), praying for their eternal rest.
