Mikaela Shiffrin surpasses Swedish great Ingemar Stenmark with her 87th career victory
Mikaela Shiffrin of the United States set a World Cup record with her 87th career victory on Saturday, surpassing Swedish legend Ingemar Stenmark.
“The best feeling is skiing on the second run when… of course, you want to win,” Shiffrin said after winning. “You have a lead, so you have to be smart, but I also wanted to be fast and ski the second run like it was its own race. So I did exactly what I wanted, and that’s incredible.”

With her 13th victory of the season in Are, Sweden, the 27-year-old broke retired skier Stenmark’s record.
Shiffrin currently holds a World Cup discipline record of 53 slaloms, 20 giant slaloms, five super-G and parallel races, three downhills, and one alpine combined.
