Afrobeats icon Innocent Idibia, famously known as 2Baba, sent shockwaves through social media when he revealed that he and his wife, Annie Idibia, have been separated for some time and have initiated divorce proceedings.
The announcement came via a video story shared on his Instagram account on Sunday.
“Hello to my beautiful people everywhere,” he began. “This is short but also a lot. Annie Macaulay and I have been separated for a while and have filed for divorce.”
2Baba added that he plans to issue an official statement to provide clarity.
“I’ll share my side soon—not because anyone is entitled to my personal life but because I value my people and want you to hear the truth. Stay blessed, my people. I love you all.”
Shortly after, a post appeared on his Instagram page, claiming his account had been hacked and that efforts were underway to recover it.
“My Instagram account has been hacked, and I’m working to regain control. #OneLove!”
However, in a surprising turn, another post emerged, stating that the earlier announcement was genuine.
“To my people, no one hacked my account. I said what I said. I come in peace.”
The situation has stirred mixed reactions among fans, with many debating the authenticity of the posts and speculating about the couple’s relationship.
2Baba and Annie’s journey began years ago, with their first child, Isabella, born in 2008. He proposed to Annie on Valentine’s Day in 2012, and they tied the knot later that year, celebrating their white wedding in Dubai in March 2013. The couple welcomed their second child, Olivia, in 2014.
