Anthony Joshua Says Tyson Fury Fight Is Now “More Possible Than Ever”
British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua believes the long-awaited showdown with Tyson Fury may finally be on the horizon. The former unified world champion says the time for excuses is over — and that Fury has no choice but to face him.
Speaking in an interview with Marca, Joshua shared his confidence about the long-discussed all-British heavyweight clash.
“I think it’s very possible now,” he said. “He has no options anymore. He has to fight me.”
His comments come shortly after Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, hinted that Fury was more focused on pursuing another bout with Oleksandr Usyk, following two back-to-back defeats to the Ukrainian champion. Those losses marked the only blemishes on Fury’s professional record and have kept fans wondering if he’d ever share the ring with Joshua.
The rivalry between both fighters has stretched over the years — filled with near agreements, public exchanges, and countless disappointments for boxing fans. Each time negotiations seemed close, something got in the way. But Joshua believes that this time, the stars might finally align.
At 35, Joshua remains determined to reclaim his place at the top of the heavyweight division. He’s made no secret of his desire to equal Muhammad Ali’s record by becoming a three-time world champion — and he sees Fury as the final step toward that goal.
“I’ve always said it’s not a matter of if, but when,” Joshua said confidently, hinting that boxing’s biggest British rivalry may soon deliver the showdown fans have been waiting for.
