Kumawood’s beloved actor Kwadwo Nkansah, fondly known as LilWin, recently made a social media post that some interpret as a subtle response to the defamation lawsuit brought against him by actress Martha Ankomah.
Martha Ankomah alleges that LilWin, without any provocation, launched a social media attack against her on February 8, 2024, accusing her of consistently rejecting movie roles in Kumawood, the Twi film industry. She refutes LilWin’s claims, including his assertion that Kumawood storylines lack sense, stating that his statements were fabricated with malicious intent, leading to public disapproval and tarnishing her reputation.
Among her requests, Martha Ankomah seeks five million Ghana cedis in damages, compensatory damages, an injunction against LilWin, and an order for him to issue a public apology and retract his statements.
However, LilWin’s recent social media post hints at his unconcern about the lawsuit. He shared a video featuring the National Democratic Congress Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, who argued that “any idiot can go to court.”
Echoing Asiedu Nketiah’s sentiment, LilWin captioned his Instagram post with “As the final arbiter of the law, the Court is charged with ensuring the Ghanaian people the promise of equal justice under law and, thereby, also functions as guardian and interpreter of the Constitution. Movie is my life.”
Renowned for his humorous remarks, Asiedu Nketiah, also known as General Mosquito, initially made this statement after the 2012 general elections when the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) contested the presidential election results in court.
In December 2023, Asiedu Nketiah clarified his statement, emphasizing that rushing to court in a dispute doesn’t imply guilt or innocence on the part of the defendant.
