Arsenal Waves Goodbye to Familiar Faces in Post-Season Squad Changes
Arsenal has announced a sweeping round of changes across its men’s, women’s, and academy squads as they wrap up preparations for the 2025/26 season. It’s a time of goodbyes, fresh starts, and one or two surprises.
Among the most notable departures is Jorginho. The experienced midfielder, who joined from Chelsea in 2023, is moving on as a free agent. Word has it he’s close to signing with Brazilian giants Flamengo.
Defender Kieran Tierney is also headed for the exit after a stint marked by injuries. And while Raheem Sterling made a brief appearance in Arsenal colors on loan from Chelsea, he’s returning to his home club. But his presence left an unexpected mark—his young son, Thiago, has joined Arsenal’s youth academy at Hale End. A legacy in the making?
Goalkeeper Neto, who spent the season on loan, will also depart, heading back to his parent team.
Changes aren’t limited to the men’s squad. On the women’s side, Arsenal confirmed the release of Teyah Goldie, Lina Hurtig, and Amanda Ilestedt. Talks are ongoing with Chloe Kelly, who impressed during her loan spell from Manchester City. With her contract set to end this month, she could make the switch permanent without a transfer fee.
In the academy, the club is parting ways with several young talents. Names like Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, Khayon Edwards, Brian Okonkwo, and Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand are among those leaving. It’s a major reshuffle, signaling a fresh chapter for Arsenal’s youth development program.
As for contract extensions, the Gunners aren’t done yet. Talks are still underway with Thomas Partey, who’s approaching the end of his current deal. There’s hope he might stay, but nothing’s sealed yet. Similar conversations are happening with Chloe Kelly and Michal Rosiak.
Arsenal shared a heartfelt message alongside the announcement, saying:
“Ahead of the official Premier League release list, we want to take a moment to thank every player moving on from the club. We’re grateful for their contributions and wish them the very best for what’s next.”
