Dayo Amusa Speaks on Asake’s Family Drama, Emphasizes Importance of Parental Love
Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has weighed in on the controversy involving singer Asake and a man, Fatai Odunsi, who claims to be his father.
Odunsi, who says he has been battling a stroke since 2022, alleged that Asake has cut off communication despite his declining health. In response, Asake shared an emotional message on TikTok, implying that he has already done a lot for his father but is being pressured for more.
“My own father wants to manipulate me. I have sent him so much money, yet it’s never enough. After struggling for so many years, they still want to drain me,” the singer expressed.
Adding to the controversy, Asake’s family has also spoken out, accusing him of neglecting his daughter, Zeenat, and refusing to acknowledge her mother.
Amid the ongoing drama, Dayo Amusa took to Instagram to share her thoughts. She stressed that childhood wounds don’t magically disappear with fame or fortune, and true healing comes from love and emotional support.
“When Asake covered his face in tattoos, I once thought he was either rebranding or masking a pain he wasn’t ready to confront,” she wrote.
She acknowledged the claims that Asake’s father was absent and his mother was strict but refrained from judging them. Instead, she highlighted the importance of love and support in a child’s upbringing.
“Fame doesn’t erase the scars of parental rejection. A child raised with ‘I love you’ moves through life differently than one who only hears, ‘I want nothing to do with you.’ Some wounds can’t be healed with money—only deep, intentional healing can,” Amusa added.
She urged parents to be present in their children’s lives, reminding them that a child who feels truly seen and loved at home has nothing to prove to the world.
“I can relate to this kind of pain, and I wish him well,” she concluded.
